And this is nothing to sing about. The Seattle PI printed its last edition today, however unlike the Rocky, the 146 year old paper will still be around for readers, just online.
With the option of thousands of sites will it survive? And if so is this the future for those of us who earn our paychecks from the printing press? Should this be the case, the ever shrinking print journalism jobs will be as precious as gold for the few who are able to remain. And what will that do to the many Journalism schools around the country?
People are not going to get the city council meeting coverage online that they get in newspapers across this country so what will come of our village society? It is hard to remain optimistic in a society that chooses to ignore what's going on in their own back yard.
I wonder, in 10 years when there are no more papers how high the voter turnout will be for school Levy's and 911 bonds?
